荒木研究室(言語メディア学研究室)では広い意味で「自然言語処理」をやっています。機械が自然に(人間のように)言語を扱い、対話や翻訳したり、獲得した言葉のルールや知識を使うようにプログラムを作成します。子供の言語獲得のメカニズムから感情の表し方まで幅広く研究を行い、得た知識を機械で実現する楽しみは本研究室のエンジンです。

Who are we?
In Araki Lab (officially Language Media Laboratory) we concentrate on a subfield of Artificial Intelligence called "NLP" - Natural Language Processing. Our goal is to make a machine understand and use language as people do. We work on wide range of topics - not only on traditional NLP (from conversational systems to machine translation) but also on Machine Learning and Knowledge Acquisition. We are interested in acquiring and analyzing knowledge and simulating thinking and feeling processes which are very important for understanding and representing a language.
